This year continued the punching of all penny coins, with the exception of fifty dollars. The appearance of all the coins has also changed - the coat of arms was wrapped around not only 7, but 11 ribbons by the number of the increased number of union republics.
The face of the coins has changed dramatically compared to the products of previous years. The reverse has remained the same, only the year of printing has changed. Materials for the manufacture remained the same.
Coins of all denominations today are more expensive than coins of 1936, of which rare are 5 kopecks, there are also rare ones - 3 kopecks with a flat star on the obverse, and 20 kopecks with a figured star on the obverse. This is the so-called jumble when stamps of bronze and nickel coins were confused. These specimens are very expensive.
In 1937, the following coins were issued:
- 20 kopecks, metal - copper / nickel, weighing 3.4 grams and 2.18 centimeters wide;
- 15 kopecks, metal - nickel silver, weighing 2.5 grams and 1.956 centimeters wide;
- 10 kopecks, metal - copper / nickel, weighing 1.8 grams and 1.727 centimeters wide;
- 5 kopecks, metal - aluminum / bronze, weighing 5 grams, 2.5 centimeters wide;
- 3 kopecks, metal - aluminum bronze, weighing 3 grams, 2.2 centimeters wide;
- 2 pennies, metal - aluminum / bronze, weighing 2 grams, 1.8 centimeters wide;
- 1 kopek, metal - aluminum bronze, weighing 1 gram, 1.5 centimeters wide.
It should be noted that cupronickel is another name for the copper-nickel alloy.
