France is one of the oldest States in Europe. The population is about 65 million people. Approximately the same number of tourists visits this country every year, attracted by the monuments, resorts, beautiful landscapes of France and, of course, by the Paris - capital of the country.
France was one of six countries that in the fifties of the last century marked the beginning of economic unification of European countries. It is therefore not surprising that today the currency of France is Euro, which equals 100 cents.
Prior to moving to payments in Euro, i.e. before January 2002, the state had a circulation franc (100 centimes). Catalogue of the coins of France by the time consisted of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 francs, and the small coins were used 5, 10, 20 and 50 centimes.
The franc was the national currency of the country more than two hundred years – since 1795. France continued to mint coins in the years of the Second world war. From 1942 to 1944, appeared 1, 2, and 5 francs, and change 10, 20 and 50 centimes. The reverse of all these coins were decorated with the image of a medieval battle axe and ears. While the famous French slogan: "Liberty, equality, fraternity" disappeared from the obverse side of the coin. He was replaced by another: "Work, family, Fatherland". Buy French coins of that period now it is possible on sites of special focus.
Postwar inflation had lowered the value of the coins of France, and in 1950 the state had to issue coins in 10, 20, 50 and even hundred francs. 1960 saw the arrival of the "new franc," which replaced the old money in the ratio of 1 to 100. One and five centimes were minted in stainless steel; nominal value of 10 centimes, 20 and 50 – aluminium-bronze; one franc – Nickel and five of silver. Silver 10 francs appeared in 1966. In 1986 desyatiraundovy coins produced of Nickel, but soon refused them and withdrew from circulation, so the price of these French coins now exceeds $ 2.
