In 1902, several events occurred that reflected on the monetary history of the world. This applies to many countries, but the most interesting event took place in Russia. In honor of the return visit of Félix Faure, President of France, unique and very rare coins were created in St. Petersburg. It is about 100 francs or 37.5 rubles. The double denomination was minted on a gold coin, and it weighed as much as 32 grams. It was intended for use in trade between countries, but the idea failed. It was created only 225 copies.
As for other countries, the following interesting events can be noted here:
1. Chasing the last edition of gold coins for the Boer South Africa. The circulation was extremely small, so their cost is quite high.
2. The release of the limited edition crown in honor of the coronation of Edward VII. The coin was made of silver and carried the profile of the monarch himself.
3. The emergence of the first camp money that happened during the Anglo-Boer War. Such assets were used for trade within prisoner of war camps. Subsequently, this currency was actively used by Germany as Ghettogeld - special money used in the ghetto.
4. In America, the coinage “E Pluribus Unum”, which means “One of many”, was first minted on coins.
5. Since 1902, Edward VII has been minted on a Hong Kong coin of 20 cents on the obverse, replacing Queen Victoria.
