Small monetary units of the German States

Until 1871, Germany was divided into many States. Every Principality, bishopric, Duchy minted their own currency. In 1761, the German States added to the collection of money circulation of small coins, which are made of copper. It:
- ½ Pfennig, series: bishopric of Wurzburg, Franconia;
- 2 Pfennig series: Imperial mint of Mainz;
- 2 Pfennig, series: Principality of Pyrmont, part of Waldeck;
- 3 Pfennig, series: the Principality of schwarzburg-Rudolstadt;
- 3 Pfennig series: Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg;
- 4 Pfennig, series: Principality of Pyrmont, part of Waldeck;
- 21 Geller, series: bishopric of münster, Boholt;
There is a standard edition of a silver coin, 4 Pfennig, series of the Duchy of Brunswick-lüneburg.
Coins, 2, 4 Pfennig, Pyrmont series, decorated similarly. On the front side, in three lines, the denomination and the name of the coin are printed, at the bottom – the year of issue. The nominal value is indicated by a Roman numeral. On the reverse side, in a thin circle, there is an anchor cross, at the top – the crown, in the legend – the name of the Principality of Pyrmont.
On the obverse of the coin 3 Pfennig, Schwarzburg, in four lines marked:
- face value, Arabic numerals;
- the name of the monetary unit;
- abbreviated name of the Principality;
- year of manufacture.
On the reverse: monogram of Johann Friedrich, decorated on both sides with a wreath of branches and leaves, at the top – a crown.
The obverse of the 3 Pfennig coin of the Saxe series is similarly decorated, with an inscription with the name of the engraver, and a decorative ornament in the form of a curved garland. On the reverse side: heraldic shield, decorated with a decorative frame. Above the shield a crown. In the legend printed name and title of the ruler.
2 Pfennig, Mainz, have a similar design of the obverse, with coins of 3 Pfennig. On the back: coat of arms, in the form of a wheel Mainz. In the legend indicate the names and titles of Archbishop and Lord.
The front side of ½ Pfennig is decorated similarly to coins 2 and 3 Pfennig. The difference is in writing the name of the coin in two lines, with the transfer. The reverse depicts an emblem with a crown, which consists of two parts: the symbol of the Duchy of Franconia and the key of the city of Wurzburg. There is no legend on both sides of the coin.
Silver coin 4 Pfennig decorated in a similar way, with the denomination on the obverse, and the use of a monogram on the reverse.
On the front side of the coin, the face value of 21 Geller, marked the name of the coin and the cost, on the reverse side – a decorative cross.
