1940 did not differ from the previous ones in the plans for issuing coins. All the same continued chasing of penny coins of all denominations. Today, their price is low even for novice collectors, since the circulation this year was impressive.
For serious collectors, only two coins, the so-called combinations, can be of interest. These are coins of 3 kopecks in value, which were stamped with a face stamp of 20 kopecks, and 20 kopecks, which were printed with a stamp of 3 kopecks.
The stamps were confused due to the fact that they had the same size, and differed only in the shape of the star in the upper part, which is difficult to notice right away. Such coins are rare and expensive. In 1940, the following coins were issued in the USSR:
- 20 kopecks, copper-nickel alloy, weigh 3.4 grams, diameter 2.18 centimeters;
- 15 kopecks, copper / nickel, weigh 2.5 grams, diameter 1.956 centimeters;
- 10 kopecks, copper-nickel alloy, weighs 1.8 grams, with a diameter of 1.727 centimeters;
- 5 kopecks, aluminum / bronze, weighing 5 grams and a diameter of 2.5 centimeters;
