For Greece, 2001 was a landmark and victorious year. The state has entered the European Union. And by the beginning of 2002, the country needed to have a certain number of bank notes.
Therefore, in 2002, the mints of Greece, Spain, Finland and France minted coins for the state of Greece. This moment was due to the following: the mint of the country did not have such facilities to provide the entire population with the necessary monetary supply.
1 and 2, 5, 10 and 50 cents were minted in France. Coins of 20 cents were issued by Spain. Finland produced coins of 1 and 2 euros. Later, only Greece was involved in issuing its own coins.
For Ukraine, the year 2002 turned out to be very productive in the field of issuing coins, both commemorative and anniversary. In January, a coin dedicated to speed skating was minted, and in June - swimming. Their face value was 2 hryvnia. 2 hryvnia coins "Nikolay Lysenko" and "Leonid Glebov" supplemented the collection of coins of Ukraine. Coins in denominations of 5 hryvnia were timed to the date of commencement of the release of the AN-225 “Mriya” aircraft. Part of the release was dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the battle under. Botag, the millennium of the city of Hotinu and the execution of the 1,100th anniversary of the founding of the city of Romny.

In 2002 in Ukraine a coin of 1 hryvnia entered into circulation. On the obverse of the coin in the center there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine. Above it is the inscription "Ukraine". On the left and right of the coat of arms are depicted oak leaves and 2 spikelets each. In the lower part of the obverse there is a stamp of the year of issue of the coin - 2002.
The number 1 is displayed in the center of the reverse, and under it is the inscription “hryvnia”. On the obverse of the coin, on both sides of the denomination designation, one can observe a floral ornament in the form of bunches of grapes.
