This year, the mints in Russia continued to print coins of penny and ruble denominations ranging from 1 kopeck to 5 rubles. They were produced in large quantities, so today they have no value.
At the same time, six commemorative coins of interest to numismatists were issued - all of them are made of 925 silver, weighing 17 ± 0.18 grams and 3.3 cm in diameter, 2.4 millimeters thick.
List of coins:
- 2 rubles to the 135th anniversary of the birth of K. Stanislavsky, the total circulation of 2x15 thousand. - the coin was minted with two different patterns on the reverse;
- 2 rubles to the 100th anniversary of S. Eisenstein, with a circulation of 2x15 thousand, also with two different reverses;
- 2 rubles for the 150th anniversary of the birth of V. Vasnetsov, 2 batches of 15 thousand each. with different versions of the reverse part;
Six varieties of coins were devoted to the Moscow World Youth Games, held in 1998, from 925 sterling silver, weighing 8.53 grams, 2.5 centimeters in diameter and 2.2 millimeters thick. Each coin is printed with a circulation of 25 thousand pieces.
List of coins:
- 1 ruble with a tennis player on the reverse;
- 1 ruble with a gymnast in a jump embossed on the reverse;
- 1 ruble with a swordsman holding a rapier;
- 1 ruble with a hammer thrower against the background of the Tsar Cannon;
- 1 ruble with a gymnast in the support against the background of the Ostankino tower;
- 1 ruble with a volleyball player at the moment of hitting the ball against the background of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower.
Four different coins were issued for the 100th anniversary of the Russian Museum, from silver 900, weighing 34.88 ± 0/32 grams, measuring 3.9 centimeters and 3.3 ± 0.35 millimeters thick. The circulation of each coin is 15 thousand pieces.
List of coins:
- 3 rubles with E. Davydov's portrait against the background of the Mikhailovsky Palace;
- 3 rubles with the sculpture "Russian Stsevola" against the background of the Engineer Castle;
- 3 rubles with the head of the archangel and the Stroganov Palace;
- 3 rubles with the “Merchant for Tea” by artist B. Kustodiev and the Marble Palace.
All minted coins this year have the quality of "proof", and are intended for collecting.
