The Republic of Lithuania is one of Baltic countries is located in the North-East of Europe. The area of owned land – 65.3 thousand square kilometers. The Republic is inhabited by 2.9 million people, of which over 70% - Lithuanians. The state capital is the city of Vilnius. In 1990, Lithuania left the USSR and became sovereign.

During the period of Lithuania's membership in the USSR - from 1941 to 1991, the Soviet ruble was carried out monetary policy in the country. After the country's withdrawal from the ruble zone for calculations temporarily created a "common stamps" (wagneri).
