The year 1967 did not make such a significant contribution as the one preceding it, however, there is something to be mentioned here.
This year, the state of Brunei introduces its own currency, the Brunei dollar. Prior to that, there were many other currencies here, including the Malaysian dollar and the specific “straitsdollar”, an alternative currency used in Brunei. There is a stamping of standard cent values of copper-nickel alloy.
The introduction of a new currency in Malaysia. In 1967 ringgit became the national currency. It is divided into 100 sen, which are issued a classic set of denominations (1, 5, 10, 20 and 50).
New currency appeared in New Zealand. The country moves to the New Zealand dollar, accepting the decimal monetary system.
There were also many other events, among which it is worth highlighting:
- Coinage of Australian cent coins. Their dollar was approved a year before, but they began to be introduced only some time later.
- Restored coinage in 5 forint coins in Hungary. There was a long pause in its release, because this coin was withdrawn from their circulation a year after its approval.
- In 1967, the Republic of Colombia introduces new coin values. A number of denominations have been introduced, among which are copper 1 and 5 centavos, nickel 10, 20 and 50 centavos, as well as copper-nickel pesos.
- The first coinage of Singapore money. The Singapore dollar was introduced back in 1965, but minting of coins of all denominations began only two years later.
- In the Philippines, approved a new name a bargaining chip. Now it is called centima and minted with portraits of the heroes of the nation.
