The year 1932 was marked by many interesting events that may be useful for the world's coin collectors. The changes affected the monetary systems of many countries of the world, so there is something to note here.
In particular, it is worth mentioning the Great Depression in the USA. This is quite a significant period, which carried not only negative but also positive moments. Here we can note a peculiar reform of the monetary system, which occurred unnoticed by many. Since the use of money in these years was small, then the coins did not use special demand. Therefore, almost all mints stopped their minting for the next two years. This served the adoption of a common standard of coins and the minting of quarter (25 cents) of the new species with a silver share of 90%. Now on the obverse, instead of girls, symbolizing freedom, Washington has been placed.
Changes in the appearance of coins also occurred in Poland. Silver coins of 2.5 and 10 zloty were now issued with the profile of Jadwiga, the queen of the country. Although an interesting point is that the affiliation profile to the queen is not confirmed anywhere.
You can also highlight a few more important events:
1. This year there was a proclamation of independence of the Iraqi kingdom. At the same time, a new currency appeared in the country - the Iraqi dinar, which replaced the previously used Indian rupee, introduced by Great Britain.
2. In 1932, the state of Nepal officially adopted the Nepalese rupee as the main currency. However, it was rarely used and minted, preferring a dinar or Indian rupee. And the accepted currency began to be used only at the end of the century.
