Kreuzer

Wide distribution of kreuzer on the European lands was promoted by high quality of coins, lack of damage. In 1773 new samples of such banknotes of different design were minted. Kreuzer produce:
- Germany, nominal ½, copper;
- Germany, nominal value 1, from billon;
- Hungary, in denominations of 20, silver;
- Transylvania, face value 20, silver;
Swiss cantons, par 6, of billon;
Swiss cantons, with par value of 12, the weight of 3.92 g, silver;
Swiss cantons, with par value of 12, a weight of 3.86 grams of silver.
The copper coin has ½ kreuzer, no legend. On the obverse, in three lines, inscriptions are applied: denomination and name, year of manufacture. The text is made a wreath of two branches. On the reverse is printed heraldic shield in the shape of an oval, on it – standing on the hind legs of a lion, with a crown and a small garland. On both sides of the shield are applied abbreviated symbols of the name of the country: C and P (electorate Palatine).
German currency 1 kreuzer, different design. The emblem of the crowned eagle is printed on the front side. On both sides of it – abbreviated denomination and name: 1 and K (kreuzer). Below is the engraver's mark. In legend – the name of the city: Frankfurt.
On the back is a view of the city and the river Rhine. At the top – a triangle with 24 rays around. At the bottom – date of issue. There is no legend on the reverse. Reliable picture of the Hungarian kreuzer, valued at 20, not. It is known that the coin is silver, with a weight of 6.68 grams, the series of Maria Theresa.
Transylvanian 20 kreuzer, weighing 6.48 g, also from the Maria Theresa series. On the front side: bust of Maria Theresa surrounded by decoration of Laurel and palm wreath. In the legend: the name and titles of the Queen. On the reverse side: the coat of arms, in the form of a double-headed eagle, in the crown. Below – face value, in cartouche. In the circular inscription – abbreviated name of the country, date of issue. The emblem is decorated with decorative elements in the form of Laurel and palm branches.
The Swiss kreuzer, the St. Gallen series, also have a different design. The obverse of the coin 6 kreuzer depicted the monogram of Abbot Troubles Angern, in the decoration of the branches.
Inside – oval coat of arms with heraldic animals and the emblem of the Abbot. On the reverse, the miter is depicted above the mantle, the release date is divided into two signs – 17 and 73, on both sides of the image.
The silver coin of 12 kreuzer, weighing 3.92 g, is issued identically, only the obverse is the heraldic shield, with the date of issue and denomination. The reverse depicts a monogram.
Currency 12 kreuzer, with a weight of 3.86 g, arranged as 6 kreuzer: with monogram on the obverse, heraldic shield on the reverse. Only on the front side is applied the year of manufacture, as opposed to 6 kreuzer.
Kreuzer are minted by different countries for almost six centuries, from XIII to XIX century. After the coin went out of circulation, commemorative kreuzer continued to be printed.
