Copper monetary units maravedi mints the mint of Segovia (Aqueduct), Old Castile. The design of the coins of 1, 2, 4 maravedi is identical. The obverse depicts the bust of the 14th king Charles III: the Enlightened one. To the left of the portrait is a mark of the mint, to the right – face value, Arabic numeral. In the legend the name of king, country name, issue date of the coin.
On the reverse is printed a stylized emblem of Castile and Leon, between the decorative loops. The coat of arms of Castile is a castle with three turrets, Windows and gates. Leon's coat of arms is a lion standing on its hind legs, wearing a crown. The image of the heraldic symbols of Castile and Leon alternates in the corners of the cross of the loops. In a circle, the coin is decorated with a wreath of olive branches, mirrored.
Silver reals are made similarly. The obverse of the coin depicts a coat of arms, at the top – a crown. On the shield alternate heraldic symbols of Castile and Leon, as in maravedi coins. Inside is the oval shield of the Bourbon dynasty. At the bottom – the image of a grenade, the symbol of the city of Granada, which entered the heraldry after its conquest. To the left of the shield is a sign R – real, under it: the mark of the mint, with a crown. To the right of the shield – face value, Arabic numeral, under it – the initials of the engraver. On the reverse of the coin: bust of king Charles III. In the legend the name of king date of issue. Differences in the design of reals:
- on the obverse of the coin, face value ½ real, no sign "R", and face value, digit;
- the crown symbol is depicted above the mint mark only on coins minted in Madrid;
- the coin, the denomination of 8 reals, the obverse is the image of the bust of the king, the reverse the heraldic shield;
Gold Escudos are made similar to silver reals, using images of the bust of the king and coat of arms, which are different for different coins.
