The year 1711 brought with it a mass of changes in the monetary system, which in particular affected Russia. Among them are the following events:
- Suspended issue of small silver coins in Russia. By Peter's decree, small coins began to be made from copper, thereby gradually replacing silver in daily use. By the end of his reign, they completely ousted silver coins.
- Reducing the proportion of silver in large silver coins of Russia. Due to the difficult financial situation of the country, the government made a decision on the basis of which the silver sample for coins is reduced from 72nd to 70th. The value of such coins was lower than the previous coinage.
As for other countries, it can be noted:
Issue of commemorative coins in Poland. This year, the emperor of the Roman Empire died, which is why the then ruler of Poland, Augustus the Strong, temporarily served as vicar. This was displayed in a series of commemorative coins of thalers and ducats.
A large batch of small coins in England. In 1711, a rather large batch of various small coins of silver and copper with an engraving of Queen Anne was issued.
The embossing of Transylvanian ducats and thalers stopped. The reason is its accession to the Habsburg Empire as part of Hungary.
