To strengthen the economy of Russia, Peter the Great carried out monetary reform in the state.
The idea of monetary reform, as the basis of future transformations, naturally belonged to the king. And for its implementation was organized "Team Peter". It included representatives of all sectors of the society at that time, capable of soberly thinking and skillfully carrying out ambitious and complex complexes of state transformations.
The leader of this group was Matvey Fedorovich Apraksin, who lived in Kaydashi. He allocated his own money to re-equip old and build new mints.
The king approved this undertaking. Thus, the first very strange coin was issued in the mint built in Kaidashi - a gold chervonets, the owner of which was Apraksin. For this reason, the first "new money" was called not only as Apraksinsky Chervonets in 1701. And it was called a strange coin by the fact that the image of the mysterious symbol of the “special path” of the country was painted on it.
Coins were minted from sample gold 986. The weight of gold piece was 3.47 grams. And coins with a face value of two chervonets weighed 6.94 grams. In total, in 1701, 118 gold chervonets were released - a mere miser! Therefore, to find such rarities of more than 3 centuries of age, today is a reality from the realm of fantasy.
